Kandern, Germany, and BFA

Kandern je malé městečko asi půl hodiny cesty autem z Bazileje. A čím to je, že zrovna tady člověk potká tolik cizinců? Je tu totiž Black Forest Academy. Škola převážně pro děti misionářů a kazatelů. Vyučuje se tu anglicky, ale škola je velmi rozmanitá. Jsou tu studenti asi ze 60 různých zemí. A to není málo. Johanna tu od konce srpna učí španělštinu, a pomáhá studentům, kterých první jazyk není angličtina, s úkoly a tak. Je to celkem zajímavé, zvlášť, když si člověk uvědomí, že snad všichni učitelé tu jsou v podstatě jako dobrovolníci. Nejsou za svoji práci placeni, ale všichni jsou pečlivě vybráni a musí být kvalifikovaní pro svoji práci. Tím pádem tu vyučují jen lidé, kteří vážně chtějí. Myslím, že to musí být radost v takové škole studovat.

Kandern is a small town about half an hour by car from Basel. And why is it that one can meet so many foreigners here? The Black Forest Academy is here. It is a school mostly for the children of The missionaries and preachers. The language used in teaching is English and the school is very diverse. You can find students from around 60 different countries here. And that is interesting. Johanna has been teaching Spanish here since the end of August and she has been helping the students who are not native in English. It is impressive to realize that probably all the teachers here are teaching basically as volunteers. They are not paid for their work but they are well selected and has to be qualified to do their job. Therefore only people who really like teaching are here. I think it must be so nice to study in that kind of school.

Ve čtvrtek a v pátek musela Johanna učit, tak jsem se šla s ní podívat. Hodina španělštiny byla zajímavá, velmi interaktivní, namotivovalo mě to v tom, abych přehodnotila svoje výukové metody :) Jsem ráda, že jsem se tam mohla podívat, byl to pro mě velký přínos.

On Thursday and Friday Johanna had to teach so I went with her to see the school and the classes. The Spanish class was really interesting and very interactive. It motivated me to rethink my teaching methods :) I am very glad I could have come, it taught me some things.

Ze školy jsme pak oba dny šly tak unavené, že jsme chtěly jen hodit nohy nahoru a odpočívat. Nicméně nezapomněly jsme jít nakoupit jídlo v místním supermarketu a udělat si výbornou večeři. :)

On the way from school we were so tired both of the days that the only thing we wanted was put our feet up and rest. Of course, we didn't forget to buy some food in a local supermarket and prepare delicious dinner :)
