A udělali jsme dobře. Měli tam různé sendviče, tortillu de patatas, krokety a třeba i nějaké mořské plody v těstíčku. A dobré džusy :)
A tím to začalo.

No, asi ani to ne. V Liberci bydlím sama, to tady nechci. Paní mně sama povzbudila, ať si to nechám projít hlavou.

Oni totiž to odpoledne šly do jednoho bytu a ten hned vzaly.

How to find accommodation in Spain?

They say it's easy. But I would say that it depends...

On Monday we had a informative reunion at 10:30 in the library. First, I went to the city centre to get a sim card so that I could call people about renting the room. Unfortunately Vodafone was opening at 10am so I didn't get it and just went to meet Bára and Markéta - girls from my class from Liberec to go together to the university together. We decided to go on foot to save money and get to know it here a bit. It could have been a nice walk but we got lost a little bit and walked a bit more that we had to. But in the end we found UBU (University of Burgos) right on time.
In two exhausting hours we got almost all the information we needed. We were told to sing these and those papers, put our pistures there and another 3 pictures there... and so on... Too much information on Monday morning... some of them were very useful but it was too much... We were also told tobe there at 1pm to be officially welcomed, here some erasmus experience, be on the picture and be there for a toast. Honestly, with one other classmate from Liberec, we were thinking about skipping that part. We went to sit into on café on the campus, drank a cup of coffee (90cents cafe solo, quite a good price but not really the quality), and discussed what to do. In the end we decided to go back and see what was it about. One lady told us that it would be very short so we hoped she would be telling the truth. And it was a good decision in the end. They spoke really only little, we looked ok on the picture and it wasn't just toast but a banquet. That was really nice. Our best experience here so far :) There were tapas and some sandwiches, tortilla de patatas, corquets and some seafood in a dough. And really good juices :)
Then we went back to the city centre. We got to the Vodafone shop three minutes before the lunch break and we spent there at least 15 minutes but in the end we got the sim card althought with different tariff than we wanted. But next month it will be ok. There was just one problem - they needed out address in Spain and we didn't have any so I had to use the address of my friend from Barcelona. We also went to look into some shops and each of us bought something... mmm, sales :D
I had some numbers for accommodation so I went to call those people... and that's when my adventure with accommodation started...

First phonecall. The girl told me that she wasn't in Burgos, that she was in Madrid and she was sorry but couldn't show me the room. She didn't even say when would she be back. So ok, it's a pity, nothing...
Another phonecall. Some old man, saying that he will show me the flat. He told me where to go and that I should call him then. The place was fortunately very near to the place where I was sitting at the moment. The man came and started talking. He asked about where I was coming from, what was I studying and more... The flat was in a good location but unfortunately there was a retired man and one woman living. Also there was no internet which would make the rent even more expensive. And most importantly - I wanted to live with some students or at least young people. That was very important for me.
Third phonecall. Some spanish girl that lives with anouther spanish girl... oh, that could be nice. They told me that they would be at home in 45 minutes and they would let me know then. So I went to look in that direction where I thought the flat would be. I was looking for Avenida del Cid. I had a map from the university and withough it I would be completely lost :D unfortunately the problem started when I started looking for the number of the house in that street. It wasn't there. That confused me. I asked some people on the street and the told me that the flat was on the other side of river. The woman also asked me if I was looking for a room and told me that she had a room to rent. I took her number. I arrived to the right street a bit later and very tired. The flat was ok, the girls were really nice. The only problem was that it was not really in the city centre and the price was higher than what I wanted to pay for it. They told me the price without the other expenses which was quite ok, but they couldn't really tell me the final price which made me doubt it. I wanted at least to know approximately how much were they paying. I had that feeling that it would make more than 220euros which was my limit. Especially when it wasn't in such a good location. I told them that I would think about it.
I was getting quite desperate and exhausted so I made a fourth phonecall. I called to the women I met on the street. She told me to meet in half an hour in a city centre. She showed me a flat which was exactly by the river as I secretly wisher and was for 220 euros which was my limit. But! My room would be 2x3metres. Maybe not even that. There was a bad, a wardrobe, a sofa and a table. And there wasn't any space left. Maybe not even a mattress for someone to visit me. And I know that some people will visit me, at least Ráďa will! So that was the first bad thing. Another thing, maybe not so important - there was only one wall socket in the room. What? There was a nice kitchen and a small bathroom for 4 people. And there lives one man, one ecuatorian guy and the daughter of the woman who had without a doubt the biggest room :) And there was no living room! How can one be friends with the people when there is no living room? I had a feeling that none of those people wanted to be friends. Maybe a bit but not much. Everybody just stays in their room. I live alone in Liberec. I don't want that here. Luckily the woman told me to think about it. So that was nice.

It was already dark and I was very confused. I didn't know if my requirements were too high or I just saw bad flats. The truth is that most of the flats were probably taken as most of the peopl came much earlier. In the morning they asked how many people hadn't found the accommodation yet and we were only few people. I called girls (Bára and Markéta) to ask if I can come to their hostel to talk to them. They went to see one flat that afternoon and took it.
I went through some more more advertisments and replied to two of them. The rest of them wasn't either in the city centre or was too expensive. I felt kinda desperate again so at least I asked girls about their accommodation and I found out that they took the flat I was thinking about at home as the first possibility but didin't call the woman when I came here. They told me that there was still one room free. And although I didin't want to live with czech people because of the language, I started thinking about it.
Girls were supposed to move to the flat on Tuesday and the hostel was paid until Wednesday so they offered me to stay there instead of them. I would be at least in the city centre and have the internet connection. We agreed that I would come the next morning and go with them to see the flat.
I also got a number from my host to call and ask so that might be the end of my search.

What will be next you will know next time. This was written on Monday morning so I myself don't know what will happen ;) it will be a surprise :)
